The Cuteness of Horridus

I don’t expect anyone to recognize her; Horridus from Freak Force and Savage Dragon comics. Rest assured there will be more of her.  
Here is some info I quickly wrote up on the character as well as my personal thoughts;for those interested:
 
Sara has a most unusual and shocking origin, being teased at the end of several Savage Dragon comics her voice was present but never shown. Instead you see an open door and a couple sitting at a table with bullet holes in their head as you hear Sara cry out for her parents. Sara was born a ‘freak’ and her parents believed her to be the spawn of a demon keeping her chained in their basement with the company of a television. She was raised with the noise of commercials and cartoons in place of family. Her parents eventually committed suicide as they could not bear the burden of raising a ‘demon.’ Nearly starved to death she was eventually found by a paper boy and saved by Dragon. She quickly became part of a team made up of other ‘gifted’ freaks. She briefly says anything and is undeniably naive, her dialogue mostly derived from catchy commercials. The comic does span years and Sara matures and even becomes a wife and mother.  
My Thoughts;  
The character definitely has a wild origin and has incredible potential, but like all other characters in the Savage Dragon series; is seriously shirked. It is called Savage Dragon after all so it’s all about the green guy but when a character is introduced in such a powerful and tragic way it’s painful to see such story being shrugged off and cast as a very small side character. She is also almost completely incompetent in combat which makes me wonder why she’s always fighting… honestly why? They never even delved into why she decides to join and fight crime; she is practically a confused child but they immediately through her against super powered villains and she gets her ass kicked every time. This is a common problem I have with the series as I can’t help but develop a curiosity for other characters only to find so little of them and then see the worst things possible happen to them. The only characters with constant attention are Dragon and the ladies he bangs over the years. Everyone else is given less than the short end of the stick, literally… I never read enough of the series to see if this ever changes but I doubt it does. It is a creation of the 90’s and has very simple story telling. Savage Dragon is a fun read, violent, wild, and very 90’s, but all side characters never really have their moments and can and will be killed off to push the story. Only Horridus and Super Patriot seem to immune to death.
