Oh cool, I didn't even know they changed the name from Ununoctium. I remember when we had about 110 elements or so and the last several were completely theoretical. They never taught us that the names would likely change though. I didn't even know that the majority were named after scientists.
Honestly, the way we teach science in public schools is rather shortsighted, because they don't do a good job of teaching people that our understanding of science is always evolving and changing, and also how that doesn't make what we know currently less valid or important.
I know a lot of people who don't understand that and get mad when they find out "tHe ScIeNcE cHaNgEd?!?!?! ThOsE dUmBaSsEs cAn'T mAkE uP tHeIr MiNdS!!!!1" as if that's not a normal part of the process.
