Spike is pretty much the bravest character in the show. He knew he didnt have the first clue what the Cloudsdale Anthem sounded like; he knew he was going to absolutely super maximum fail; he knew that the eyes of literally an entire nation were on him and he had nowhere to hide; he knew he didnt have a chance in Tartarus of coming out of it with any shred of dignity left intact. And he went out there and sang that bonniedamn song the best he could anyway, because he had made a commitment, and By Lauren he was going to keep it. He was terrified and miserable and dying inside the whole time, and He. Kept. Singing.
 
How many other people in the show could have done that? How many people in the audience? He’s a little kid with severe anxiety and near-crippling identity issues, and he kept singing.
 
Spike is a hero.
