A jazz quartet provided background ambient music as Princess Luna slowly walked away from the main part of the festivities. Tonight was another of the parties and social gatherings that occurred routinely at the Royal Palace in Canterlot. Having performed her required social duties to Equestria the Prussian Blue alicorn now was on a personal mission and was searching for a particular pony.
She found that pony standing by one of the open bars located around the periphery of the gathering. Even in a crowd of glamorous, handsome, and beautiful ponies Fleur Dis Lee stood out in Luna’s eyes. For this evening the white unicorn was wearing a delicious little black satin dress that flattered curvaceous figure and long limbs. It also worked well with the stout leather collar around her neck.
The mare was standing by the bar slowly swirling a glass of champagne in her right hand. She smiled as the Princess walked up to her. She then gave a brief but proper bow to the Co-Ruler of Equestria. Formalities out of the way Fleur smiled and spoke.
“Your Highness. I hope you are having a most pleasant and enjoyable evening?” Fleur and Luna had for a while been cultivating in private a more intimate relationship, but in settings like this the two mares continued to maintain the trappings of a formal interaction.
Luna reached out with her telekinesis levitated a champagne flute over to her, and then proceeded to fill it from an already opened bottle. She took a sip before speaking.
“Oh the evening is going quite smoothly. They almost always do; which means one formal dinner, ball, or reception just blurs into the next until the become a continuous mass of platitudes and posing. With ponies strut around like peacocks on display. After a while it actually becomes quite tedious!”
Fleur Dis Lee giggled softly. “Well they say. ‘Heavy is the head that wears the crown.’ I fear this a burden you must bear your Highness.”
Luna looked at the lilac maned mare with a raised eyebrow. “I well this evening your Princess is seeking something different and more adventurous! In fact I have an idea!”
The alicorn suddenly draped her right arm over Fleur’s shoulder and leaned forward and whispered something in her ear. The unicorn’s eyes went wide and her body tensed. With her arm still on the mare Luna smiled.
“Interested dear?” The mare silently nodded her head in response. Luna’s horn glowed again and a fresh bottle of champagne floated out of nearby ice bucket. Then a the two were enveloped in a globe of night and then vanished.
This is commission piece I did for Grand Moff Pony. The little story I just told is something I came up with while working on the piece and is not canon to any possible stories the client might have come up or will write in the future.
