Princess Celestia is thousands of years old. I can’t help but wonder if she’s spent some of that time simply waiting.
So, normally (in recent years) I’m practically unable to ever come back to a piece. If I don’t do it in one sitting…it probably won’t get done. Furthermore, if it takes more than two or three hours, it feels like it’s taking FOREVER. DX However, for some reason I nearly reversed that this time. Spent over 12 hours on it, over the course of a week and a half, before deciding it was starting to make me crazy and it was good enough. (Then I made infinitesimal tweaks to the contrast and temperature before deciding it was making me even crazier, and posted it. The untweaked version is here: [see source for link] .) I think I learned a fair bit in the process. Each part of the image kindof turned into its own drawing, and I think I picked up a few tricks. Like, spiderwebs look nice when shimmery. Or, you can take the hair layer, duplicate it on top of the original, darken it, and then erase lines through it to effect hair texture. Anyway, hopefully it isn’t too dark for the average screen.
