I have returned with another one of my silly Kaiju rarepars, this one being between two Kaiju I haven’t drawn in a long time, Manda and Titanosaurus!

Manda and Titano are actually some of my favorite Showa Kaiju and I’ve loved them eversince I was first introduced to them in 2019. I haven’t really drawn them all that often in the past few years, but I recently felt like doing so, so here they are! If it wasn’t already obvious through the title and the details on the drawing itself, I headcanon both Titano and Manda as females. Why? Well I just happened to really like those headcanon for them, plus they’re pretty common too. There aren’t really that many female Kaiju in the Godzilla franchise compared to the amount of male Kaiju, and I feel like it wouldn’t be too big of a difference if these two were girls or not lol. Plus it’s not like a Kaiju needs to give birth on screen in order to be female anyway. (and even then just because they do give birth on screen rhat doesn’t mean they are actually female, like with Zilla for example)

I’ve been shipping them since late 2019 but I didn’t really get to draw anything with them until now. They have quite a few things in common, both being aquatic reptilian Kaiju from the Showa era, nit to mention that they were actually canonically allies in Godzilla: Rulers of Earth (my personal favorite Godzilla comic series hehe). I thought they’d be really cute together and I just couldn’t help myself. And finally after so long I finally got to draw them together! Very proud of how this came out!

Had a lot of fun drawing them! Last time I drew Titano was back in 2021, although that was only a small doodle of her. Since then I decided to change the way I draw her. I used more references so I could make her colors look more accurate to how they are in Canon. For her yellow patterns, they’re kinda all over the place since I couldn’t exactly figure them out. I made her head resemble the one of a Dinosaur a bit more, since Titano is often compared to Spinosaurids due to the fact that she’s an aquatic dinosaur who has find similar to a Spinosaur’s sail. As dor the fins, they’re a lot larger and wavier, wanted them to look more fish like but also resemble seahorses a bit, since I always thought Titano looked like a seahorse. I also tried to make her look skinnier, since I always thought she was supposed to be more skinny in order to have an easy time swimming, but the suit just looked like it had a lot of loose skin. For Manda I actually used the Final Wars concept art as reference, since I kinda realized that using actual Screenshots from FW wasn’t the best idea when you take into account the fact that Manda has very little screentime in FW and her scenes are also not all that visible. Had a bit of a hard time figuring out how to pose her since she’s really long, but I eventually got the hang of it. Drawing er tail fan was quite fun. Also I gave her the whiskers, like how she had in Showa, despite not having them in FW. Always preferred Manda with whiskers

I finally got to draw an underwater background after almost a whole year and I really loved how it turned out. I really like drawing underwater artworks and I have fun adding the lighting effects and bubbles everywhere. Since it’s May I’ll be able to get to work on another underwater artwork soon as a Mermay special, and I have a perfect idea for it hehe

Overall I am super proud of how this artwork turned out, especially the colors! I thought that I might end up rushing it near the end since I was trying to get it done before going to bed, but that wasn’t necessarily the case and it turned out great regardless. I’m glad I finally got to draw another one of my silly Kaiju ships, one between two of my favorite Showa Kaiju no less. I really gotta draw Titano and Manda more often since their designs are so fun to work with tbh
