Description

Sage grasses, the steady hum of cicada, and a steady hot breeze swept over the rolling planes that was carried in from the evening’s setting sun. Out from the grasses, Syi pushed her way to the clearing her padded feet crunching over the dried clay and loose earth warmed by the sun. Before her the brightly colored massi supported on poles and wrapped in worn fabric welcomed her.
Each was a temporary structure, simple to erect and just as easy to take down. Moving through the village of her people, Syi waved, clicking out greetings to those she recognized and ruffling the hair of one of the younger children as they ran past. Her feet were pad sore, and her back well burned in the heat after drinking in the sun for hour after hour. She could only imagine how her companion felt after such a long trek. Now though that she had made it back home, the shade and perhaps a meal called. And pushing aside the curtain to her massi she slipped into its comforting embrace.

‘Welcome, to my home.’
