Guild Wars Lore : The Fall of Abaddon
Part of Wooden Potatoes’ ([link]) Guild Wars Lore summary videos ([link]).
“See ya later, suckers!”
After getting fed up with that rascal Abaddon giving everyone magic, the gods decided to go beat him up, because man, come on. Seriously, Abaddon. There’s hints that Abaddon managed to mess with a couple of the other gods prior to this, and that there were only three present at this battle, which was in the middle of the Crystal Sea, which would later become what we see in Guild Wars as the Desolation.
What I find funny is that Abaddon thought he was doing a nice thing for the humans, since they weren’t exactly faring well on Tyria yet. After Doric started complaining about it, though, the gods suddenly got all huffy about it and decided to not only prison Abaddon in what’s basically Tyrian hell, but also to wipe all mention of his existence from history. Yet… they didn’t strip humans of magic. They just made it so you could only use one at a time as a primary profession, or something. So, apparently it wasn’t so bad of a thing, huh? I think the gods just overreact to everything and are generally lazy. Even in Nightfall when you have to go clean up their mess, they’re all, “Nah, we don’t care about you guys anymore. Solve it yourselves.”
I enjoyed the facial expression on Abaddon. He was going to be roaring in anger and defeat, but as I drew it, I enjoyed that look of subtle triumph enough to slip it in there. He totally wanted to be cast down, into oblivion. It was his plan ALL ALONGGGGG
