Description
It was hard being anything but a deranged and violent patriot during most of the Bush administration, especially the first term. For reasons I never fully understood, I was branded a “filthy commie” for daring to not tow the party line, and after a few really embarrassing attempts to prove I wasn’t, I finally just started playing the part. I guess in the long run it was a good thing, looking at the people I could’ve hung out with.
I went to Ashryn and asked them to do a picture of Roland as though he were on one of those old Soviet propaganda posters, and they did a real fine job, as you can see. Lots of contrast, great use of shadow and negative space, this is probably the most abstract piece I’ve ever gotten and it works fantastically.
