Frontiers and Pioneers (sci-fi, NSFW(violence,possible teases), robots)

Planning to depart from a newer lab currently being constructed farther up north, the two take an indoor automobile, delving into the mountain’s foundations, veering into an underground highway stretching a few miles northwest beneath the rest of the mountain chain the first lab was built at the southernmost end of… the scientist definitely seems intent on expanding.
 
The chambers and corridors are ascetically built; clean, but with utilitarianism holding a regime over the design. Every now and again, they pass what looks like a massive black-woven root lining along the ceiling and walls. Whatever it is seems to’ve been impromptuly installed into place very recently.

Before Imos can interrogate further, the underground highway opens up into a large sterile-white chamber, with a strange, blurry circular cage taking the center. The cage-bars are impossible to lock one’s eyes unto as they pass, and inside it, an sphere of pitch-darkness floats contained in place… At the darkness’s edges, light appears to be gravitationally lensing, to the point that one can see a few scientists on the other side of the cage.
 

 
In no time, they’ve passed this sight and are now surrounded again by tunnel walls and lit ceiling whizzing by.
 
Rameshvara stays silent, though obviously stirred, nervously biting at his own knuckle* while staring at the dragon.

The shark’s attention tears toward the tunnel wall passing by.

Some of my people have volunteered to learn to be the doctors so I have no shortage

The HOGfooted quadrobile they’re aboard begins to make turns on ramps leading back upwards, until reaching a hangar with an open ceiling. Disembarking, the two are greeted by a host of “biontified” kobolds working as a maintenance crew around the shuttle they’ll be taking to the north. At the shuttle’s ramp sits the crew chief and pilot for today, overseeing the others, _{while indulging on icecream after her recent biontification.}
 
Rameshvara: “Imos, Ms. Ripli. She’ll be taking us where we’ll need to go.”
 
Ripli: “Wha’s poppin’?”
