Derpy Fur - Prevented Furbooru's terrible fate in April of 2021.
Seedling - Gave the site life with many uploads during its first months

Ideally everything should have a source even if just a secondary place people can access the image to with valid information from the artist such as e621 and alike is acceptable if no better/direct is available.
 
If you have something that’s been ‘long gone’ and really can’t be sourced in any way can still be uploaded but they will carry “source needed” tag.
 
We do permit users to have more than one account as long as in conformity with the rules, if you’d want all your badges to be migrates to your main account that can be done without much trouble.

I understand. Honestly, I’m more than happy to try to find a source for some of these things, but after so much time I have doubts as to whether I can, or if I’d even know where to look. And I’d rather not cause or be the cause of trouble over that, if I can help it.
 
I will say wasn’t aware a secondary site was allowed as a source. That’s good to know. Not sure it will help in my case, but still good to know.

Just in terms of privacy, is it better to go with a secondary account over the anonymous option? I know some people do, but it’s not something I’ve ever really played around with.

Just in terms of privacy, is it better to go with a secondary account over the anonymous option? I know some people do, but it’s not something I’ve ever really played around with.
 
I have seen people go both ways, personally I’d stick to a single account. The anonymization functionality will ensure you’re “untraceable” where only moderators and admins of the site can see behind it. So you can achieve everything of having 2 accounts with a single one but with the added benefit of keeping all the “stats” directly on your main for badges and what not. Just remember to check/uncheck the anon box before uploading or posting/commenting.
 
Is there an option for that sort of thing in our settings, or would it be something I’d have to make a special request for?
 
The site will count with a more in depth listing in the future with criteria and available badges but for now you’re advised to request them on this thread.

Posting as “true anon” (that is, when signed out or in incognito mode) will do the most to preserve your privacy in the event of something like a database breach.
Oh, I see. Thank you, that’s a useful bit of information to know.
 
At the risk of asking a dumb question, though, wouldn’t doing that also negate the ability to earn the badge for uploads mentioned at the start of this thread?

Also, depending on how paranoid you are about your IP still being potentially leaked in a data breach someday, you should possibly employ a VPN that you set-up yourself with no middle man, whose root is in a building far away from you, and whose space you rent from anonymously and pay for in cash.
 
If you don’t have all those at once, it would still technically be possible for your IP to be public someday and for that to somehow get linked with you and cause some kind of hassle for you.
 
Oh and also, if you’re going to do that, then don’t ever go outside without a gas mask/full face particulate-filtering respirator, since dying from coronavirus, regardless of age, is more likely than the aforementioned scenario. 👍

Unfortunately this is correct, there is not reliable way for us to validate you done the uploads when you do so without an account meaning you’d not be eligible for any related badges.
 
Another issue of using the site without an account is not having the practicality of notifications to follow up and being tasked to complete captchas whenever you try doing any metadata change or upload something.

Ah, the age old question of whether participation is worth the potential price of privacy. Perhaps a bit extreme on my part, but I very rarely decide it is.
 
Still, I appreciate knowing all the details. Options are never a bad thing to have.

So I have a feeling I already know the answer, but do images uploaded as regular anon still count? Because I only uploaded a small handful of images non-anonymously, but I uploaded 300 images with anonymous uploads included

I can’t believe people are stopping at 300 and not just going indefinately. :P
I can’t believe people actually make it to 300. Every time I contemplate adding something I usually end up spiraling through a variety of internal debates (“Is uploading something by this artist allowed?”, “Is uploading this particular piece by this artist allowed?”, “Does it matter that I have no idea what the source of this was?”, etc.) before I eventually just give up completely.
 
But I overthink pretty much everything I do, so I’m probably a special case in that regard.

If the artist says somthing like please credit them that is a green light.

I must admit it is kinda hard to deal with all the proper credit. It’s a lot to keep track of, but it’s easy once you get used to it. I advise using a computer instead of a phone to upload. The really hard part is actually the tagging
